Thoroughbred Education and Research Foundation Awards Over $60,000 in Education Grants

(West Chester, PA – August 12, 2025): The Thoroughbred Education and Research Foundation (TERF) is pleased to award over $60,000 in education grants to nine organizations. With the mission to support Thoroughbred health and welfare, TERF provides scholarships to students pursuing veterinary careers; educates racing stakeholders impacting the Thoroughbred industry and supports equine research with a priority to making racing safer.

 

“We are grateful for our Trustees’ financial support and guidance and their cohesion to the philosophy of our mission to make racing safer,” said Dr. James Orsini, DVM, serving as TERF Co-Chair along with Dr. Kathleen Anderson, DVM.  “We are very fortunate to be able to provide continuous educational and scholarship support for the very students and organizations who represent the best for success in the Thoroughbred industry,” Orsini added.

 

The Board of Directors of TERF carefully selected this year’s grant recipients in a competitive grantmaking process. The missions and programs of the organizations selected to receive this year’s grant awards reflect TERF’s strategic focus and vision.

 

The following organizations received education and scholarship funding from TERF this year:  $5,000 to Amplifying Horse Racing, $15,000 awarded to Belmont Child Care Association, Inc., $10,000 to Maryland Horse Foundation, $5,000 to MidAtlantic Horse Rescue, $7,100 to National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, $7,500 to Retired Racehorse Project, $4,000 to Thoroughbred Horseman’s Association, $5,000 to Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation, and $6,000 to Wilson College.
